For everyone attending the parades, you have just as much of a responsibility as the Krewe members to get your outfit ready for next Saturday. I mean, let's be honest, in the south we take every outing as an opportunity to coordinate our colors with teams, holidays, themed parties and family events. So the invasion is no different. We have some pointers to ensure your outfit is on point this year.
Sure it's easy to find a shirt promoting the event itself, which is typically the go to option for men, but the Gasparilla style in general is even better. This includes any striped pattern that is paired with white, Jewel Toned clothing, Skull and Cross Bone accessories, Bullet/Gun jewelry, anything Sea Life related (but like not the over sized whale shirts your friend wore in high school), Gold, Pearls, anything Sparkle and Boots. Skip the bandanna, it's lame for an adult to wear a bandanna (this means you too high schoolers). Some of the best stuff I've seen are actual DIY shirts, which are both cost effective and funny.
Here's where you can go locally to get outfitted:
Salt Pines is great option for anyone but especially the men. Located in Hyde Park Village; 1619 W Snow Cir, Tampa, FL 33606
3417 S Manhattan Ave, Tampa
Owner Cheri is almost always in the shop and can always point you in the right direction no matter what your price point.
1910 S Dale Mabry, Tampa, FL
Keys will provide you with a southern twist with just the right amount of pirate and sass.
3423 W. Bay to Bay, Tampa, FL
This place really is a hidden gem, I stubbed upon it not too long ago and it has been a savior ever since.
3104 Palmira Ave, Tampa, FL
DKM is known to be your go to for getting sparkly pieces to dress up any outfit or dress. Quick note though, if you have A.D.D., count that into your shopping time as there are ALOT of shinning things in this store.
This online website is sponsored for the event itself and offers promotional items for each year's parade.
4246 W. Bay to Bay, Tampa, FL
This shop has actually increased their selection this year by adding more clothing items, but they also have great gifts and housewares items.
With the Kids parade being tomorrow, you don't want to forget them either, check out these mini me's and with their costumes from years past.....
We look forward to seeing everyone's ensembles at the parade.
